Fine-scale characteristics of summer precipitation over Cang Mountain

چکیده
Abstract Fine-scale characteristics of summer precipitation over Cang Mountain, a long and narrow mountain with quasi-north-south orientation in Southwest China, are studied based on station radar data. Three kinds rainfall processes classified according to the initial stations regional events (RREs) by utilizing minute-scale rain gauge RREs initiating western part Mountain exhibit eastward evolution tend reach their maximum intensity mountaintop. The results indicate differences between short-duration (1–3 h) long-duration (at least 6 events. Short-duration begin farther from mountaintop then propagate eastward, while remain longer around that initiate eastern display westward propagation frequently slope mountain. Among them, west at high speeds, but is mainly confined Mountain. For mountaintop-originated RREs, quickly reaches its after it starts continues for time during period late afternoon early morning. These findings provide references fine-scale prediction small-scale mountainous areas.

Variability of summer precipitation over eastern China
We use measurements of recent decades, 1500-yr proxy data, and millennium model simulations with a variety of climate facings to study the temporal and spatial variability of summer precipitation over eastern China. Spectral analysis of the proxy data using multi-taper method reveals three statistically significant bidecadal (15–35-yr), 5 pendadecadal (40–60-yr), and centennial (65–170-yr) osci...
متن کاملDynamics of Interannual Variability in Summer Precipitation over East Asia*
The summertime mei-yu–baiu rainband over East Asia displays considerable interannual variability. A singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis for interannual variability reveals that precipitation anomalies over the mei-yu–baiu region are accompanied by in situ anomalies of midtropospheric horizontal temperature advection. Anomalous warm (cool) advection causes increased (decreased) mei-yu–ba...

Summer convective systems (CSs) initiated over the Tibetan Plateau identified by the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) deep convection database and associated Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) precipitation for 1998–2001 have been analyzed for their basic characteristics in terms of initiation, distribution, trajectory, development, life cycle, convective intens...
متن کاملSummer precipitation determinant factors of Iran's South-East
Indian Ocean is known as a source of moisture for southeast of Iran due to summer precipitation. In this study, in order to investigate the role of SST of Indian Ocean, and the convergence and divergence fields in the precipitation of southeast of Iran, precipitation data of five synoptic stations were used during 2000-2010, including Iranshahr, Khash, ChahBahar, Zabul, and Saravan. To investig...
متن کاملspatial modeling of summer precipitation in North-west of Iran
In the present study, the main aim was the spatial evaluation summer rainfall of northwest of Iran based on30 stations in northwest of Iran during 30 years of statistical period (1985-2014). An attempt, using geo-statistical modeling by ordinary least squares (OLS) and geographically weighted regression (GWR) procedures, was also made. The results represented that the GWR model with higher S2, ...
